a seated female figure drawn from life in cool-tone (black/gray) charcoal. figure is in dark shadow with strong light source revealing cheekbones, knees, shoulder and hand. shading and smudging with fingers, an almost sculptural approach. this is one of my favorite ways to work because it's immediate, intense and expressive.
